  1. HI! I am Amy and my partner's name is Stormy. Stormy was a surprise gift from my first horse who I bought in May of 1998. I was told she was an easy keep and was just chubby when I purchased her. Stormy came along in November that year and I had a ton of learning to do as I was just starting out in horse ownership. I have never sent him out for training. I have read books, watched videos, and went to clinics to learn and then I would go home and apply what I learned. Over the past 17 years with this guy we have had our challenges, but I would not give it all back for anything. We have recently started participating in judged/competitive trail rides. I love camping and trail riding. I have two daughters who also both ride and are part of the distance derby with me. My goals for this year is to camp more, ride more, and spend more time with my daughters as they are growing up way too fast.

  3. This morning I woke up with a new mindset. I have started reading the bible again and decided I wanted to be a part of a congregation. I was not raised religious, and was always told by both of my parents that you did not need to go to church to pray, believe, and have faith.
I have tried several times over the last 20 years to become and feel a part of a church who worships Christ. Even though I had some very welcoming times and could feel comfortable with those surrounding me, I just did not have that calling. I wasn't absolutely drawn to it. Until today.
I made the decision to attend a service in our local small town. Non denominational which is a fit for me because I do not know all the differences in different beliefs. A few of my friends from back in the day play music for the church and I thought heck why not go? I am so glad that I did. I love the spirit and joy those who attended had. The music was wonderful and moving and my girls even had a good time. We plan on attending next Sunday as I feel compelled to and I believe it is the Lord calling me to do so.
However afterward since I had already blown a beautiful day on Saturday without climbing on my horse, I made a decision to take off for a short ride today. I put on my Halloween jammies over the top of my yoga pants, bundled up and went out to the barn. There he was standing proud and tall at the gate. I love him, he drops his head deep into his halter as if he is saying, let's go! I brushed the dust and hay off him checking him over for any scrapes and scratches. He stood patiently at the side of the trailer while I placed the blanket then saddle on his back. Without so much of a nicker to the other horses we mounted up and left the yard.
We don't have many places to ride so I decided to take a walk around the corn field that surrounds my property. He moved out like a dream crunching through the hardened layer of snow. As we moved on toward the back of the field we could see two separate flocks of turkeys digging for what corn lies under the snow. The squirrels were running about doing the same and taking their finds back to the woods and up into the trees. The loud crunching of the hardened snow stirred up several white tails that bounded out into the woods just out of sight. As our ride was almost over I seen a shadow from overhead, a big beautiful red tail hawk circled around us fanning his beautiful tail and showing off his color. It was fantastic, the wildlife, the weather, the calmness of sitting upon a great horse.
We ended our evening by watching our oldest daughter at her 2nd week of Archery league. For a gal who doesn't have a bow of her own to practice with and only shoots on the weekends, she is dang good! She really enjoys it, so her dad and I are on a search to get her, her own bow to shoot with. I am sure with some practice, she could kick some ;)

Enjoy life, give yourself every opportunity you can to live your life by design.
