  3. Beautiful day! 79 degrees and found new trails, sooo happy that I can walk onto trails without having to get on pavement.

  4. Another beautiful day, but really what day isn't beautiful when you can spend it horseback? Found a new trail not far from home. Took an old logging trail and a deer path. Beginning to get acclimated to the woods behind Boyd's house.

  5. Lovely day. Took the old Jennings Rd. to the Fairlee back Rd. then went up the trail to Old Buffalo Top. I haven't been up that since I had Chester. I miss that horse - But Sparky and I had a nice ride reminiscing about past rides with Chester.

  6. Riding in late September and early October in Vermont is so damn lovely. There is almost no where that you can ride that isn't a treat for the eyes. Today I even managed to get both horses out on the trails for a bit. The new trails behind the neighbors look so different with the trees changing that I thought I had myself turned around. So I backtracked and discovered I was going correctly!

  7. Such beautiful trail these past few days. Made new friends and enjoyed some spectacular scenery in the White & Green Mountains. I can't believe that it has been two years since I've gotten my husband horseback. Today was a doosy! Supposed to be an easy 7-8 mile trail turned into a 15 mile trail! I love that man - he is such a good sport. Out making hay as soon as we got back.

  8. Goals this year are to try to ride a few more miles than last year in the distance, take Sparky to some dressage shows, Show Chance in the VHSA competitions, attend at least 2 riding clinics. And, yes - I want to take a stab at making the advanced level for therapeutic riding - maybe baby steps outside my comfort zone. Oh - I'd really like to try an extreme trail challenge as well.

Wishing everyone else great trails, big smiles, goals and milestones reached, and endless sunny days. Cuz, It's more than just a ride!

  9. Sunday April 9th was that spring day VT was waiting for. Beautiful blue skies and temperatures in the fifty's. We went for a short ride down the road and watched the steam rise from the sugar house. Likely the last syrup boil of the season. We made about 80 gallons of syrup this spring. Sparky is still so furry that we came back sweaty. We did get a nice walk, trot and canter in. I have decided that I hate the synthetic saddle on Sparky. It just doesn't sit well, I am sure that Sparky and I are conformationaly flawed, but I am beyond trying to make it work. Next ride we'll try another saddle & enjoy a few more miles as we get back into shape.

  10. Went for a ride behind the house. Things are sooo muddy. But it was nice to get out. Everyone is anxious to get some haying done. Arrived back at house to discover Ophelia wounded :(. The heartache - many stitches and swelling - hoping she comes along quickly. Oh, to make the leap into dream horse ownership! She is quickly learning to deal with the cold water hose on her leg. Prayers are appreciated for her full recovery. Happy trails to all.
