TEAM 102 - DAKOTA RAMBLERS (SOUTH DAKOTA)

  1. The Dakota Ramblers team is from Yankton, South Dakota. There are 4 horses in our team. My main mount is a gaited Morgan gelding “Rambo”. He loves going down the trail. He is a bit spooky though, for that reason he is not a good candidate for driving. His sister “Rosie” is started, but needs some fine tuning. She is my husband’s mount, but he doesn’t ride too often, so I plan on putting more miles on her this year. “Cody” is a grade quarter horse. He was the first horse that I started myself. I learned a lot from him! Now he is my “friend” horse. I can put anyone on him and feel comfortable. My latest project is a 2 year old Hafflinger, “Buster”. I have started all my horses myself. I don’t do it for others, just my own horses.
I joined the Distance Derby to be challenged to go more miles! I have not tracked my miles before, so I am looking forward to seeing the miles add up. My main goal this year is to fine tune my horses. I have done a couple CTR’s in the past and would like to do more this year. I have a cart. I got it for Rambo, but he turned out to not be a good driving candidate since he is spooky. Cody would be a great driving horse. I hooked him up only once and he did great the first time out, however, he is too fat for the cart! I hope to get Rosie and Buster started on driving this year. I look forward to the monthly challenges that are in the Distance Derby. Looking forward to the MILES OF SMILES!

  2. My first ride of the year was on 1/24/15 with Rambo. The first part of our ride wasn't recorded, but we did record 2.72 miles. It was really muddy out, so took it slow and only rode around the stable grounds. I am not a good winter rider, so looking forward to warmer weather!
