Owl Prophet was born the same month that I started riding. His mother is a BLM mustang mare who was captured in Nevada, and his sire is a Chincoteague born on the island in Maryland. 2 years later, he was my christmas gift! I have always ridden on trails, competing against only the weather and myself and Owl Prophet has proved he has the dessert grit and endurance of his mother and the gentle perseverance of his father. I recently participated in an official endurance race on a different horse and our placement in the Top 10, with 3rd in physical condition, opened up my mind to the possibilities these tough little horses can claim. I am excited to find a “race” that allows me to ride where I live and still explore and pursue the potential of my horse against other riders and horses.
Welcome to the The Great Distance Derby! We are thrilled to have you tracking, posting & playing with us! As a reminder, all your miles need to be GPS so you won't likely have whole numbers. If you round down like I did the first year you will miss a TON of miles! And there is no rounding up so please enter whatever mileage your GPS registers. Even fractions of a mile add up over the course of the year! Smile & Mile On!
