Cayenne is a paso fino gelding who belongs to my friend Teresa Musgrave. He is a 9 year old gelding and has been resting in the pasture for a few years while my friend took care of her sick husband. He has had a few issues with being here bound and barn sour and I have been helping him work through these issues so he can be a solid riding citizen again. Teresa has several other horses and limited time to ride, so she was kind enough to let him be my back up horse to Liberty (team 110 distance darlings). My goals for this year are to ride him in a few Texas trail challenge groups and to condition him for some natrc in the next year. I am used to a trotting horse but his gaits are so nice I'm getting spoiled
We have gotten started on our mileage with 4.84 miles on February 7. We started out riding with my daughter and her friend. Only then her friend came off and they headed back after on,y 2 miles. Cayenne and I stood around alone and talked with Teresa and then I rode him alone almost 3 miles. It was an exciting day because his precious outing he had given me a lot of trouble about leaving home but today he was near perf ft. I'm hoping maybe we are on the upside of this problem.
