1/3/16 KC 1.25 mi short ride on a sunny, fairly warm, winter day. mostly walking but worked on moving off the leg, turn on haunches, turn on forehand, serpentine and other schooling stuff. deep snow in the arena, slick base so beast to go easy. I look at it as a chance to get in the saddle during my busy work season ... I'm smiling!!
Hi! I live in Cheyenne WY. I have 5 horses right now but only two that I regularly ride (2 others belong to my husband and we have 1 very old, 32yrs young, retiree.) Kismet Cognac (KC) is an 11 yr old bay 14.1 purebred Arabian mare. I've had her for 4 yrs now & have enjoyed many endurance miles on her. She is super competitive (way more than me) and has over 2000 endurance miles and 4 Top 20 Tevis finishes. If my research is accurate she is one of only 4 mares to finish 3X in the top 15. Hopefully we will finish good again this year and she will be the only 4X Top 15 mare in Tevis history! KC is not always an easy ride and she wears me out in the early season with her attitude but she really is a loyal friend to me and we mostly have a lot of fun together. We do much of our training in the Laramie Mts between Cheyenne & Laramie. Most of our endurance competitions are in WY, UT & CO altho we do venture to ID and CA too.
My goal this year is to ride many more miles just for fun and see new country.
I am in awe of all the teams that have so many miles already! Our ride season here in WY is pretty short but being in the Derby is inspiring me to get out even if its for just a few miles. Good weather is on its way so its time to get out and ride .. Really Ride!!

Instead we rode in the snowy arena. Not many miles but enough to work up a little sweat in KC's long winter coat. She is starting to shed so I know spring is on the way!
